Heat's On

0

Hello Parents;

I would like to say that the highlights of the week were our student council elections and our first chapel but I think the greatest relief was the firing up the school's boilers and having heat again. At Brant, as long as the boilers are on, they produce heat. So we turn them off in mid May and wait as long as we can before we turn them back on. It was nice to have a warm school again as of last Wednesday.

Getting back to students council. We had a large group run in our election and I appreciate the enthusiasm of each student. In the end, Janessa Nauta was elected our council President. Congratulations to Janessa and her council of Grace Meyer, Abigail Emsheimer, Ronique Leggot, Chloe Umbach, Jed Rodriguez, Devon Green and Nora Umbach.

Marlyn Brunning lead our first chapel of the year along with our senior high praise team. Our chapels are always a highlight and students look forward to a time of singing and a thoughtful message from our chaplain. Our next chapel will be on Wednesday, October 4 starting at 1:15. The focus for this chapel will be geared towards the celebration of Thanksgiving.

Both our junior high volleyball teams started league play on Wednesday. Our boys hosted Champion while our girls traveled to Vulcan. Both of our teams are showing good progress and played well. Our senior high boys traveled to Black Diamond for a Friday/Saturday tournament. We started off with a win and ended with a victory but hit some bumps in between. This year's senior boys have a lot of potential and we are looking forward to greater success in future tournaments.

We have 33 students heading to Mexico this winter to build two homes for needy families. They are looking for families associated with Brant who have work that needs to be done around your homes before winter sets in. Our high school students will come to your place to do the work (not all 33 at once!) In return we ask that you make a donation to our goal of raising $22,000 to build the two houses in Mexico. Please contact the school if you have work that needs to be completed or if you would just like to make a donation. Please keep our students in your prayers as this trip will be a life-changing experience for them.

For all the parents who continue to volunteer as drivers or helpers at school. Thank you for the generous gift of your time. It is always appreciated and very much needed.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
