Thanksgiving Information

0

Hello Parents;

When I was going to university the Thanksgiving weekend was always a special time to head back home, spend time with the friends you grew up with, see your parents and enjoy a wonderful meal. I trust that next weekend will be a special time for you and your family and that the extra day away from work will give you the opportunity to celebrate the abundant blessings we have.

On Wednesday, October 4 we will be having our Thanksgiving chapel. We will get underway at 1:15 and hope that many of you will be able to join us for the celebration. We have so much to be thankful for and this chapel will allow us a more formal expression of thanks to God for his rich blessings.

Our Thursday hot lunch program will start up again this week. If you have not signed up to have your children get their favourite lunches I think there is still time to do so. Contact Cathy at school tomorrow to put in your requests for the month of October.

It was a busy weekend for our volleyball teams. Our junior high boys and girls were in a tournament in Vulcan. I have not heard the final results but I know the playing time will allow our players to improve their skills. The senior boys traveled to Vauxhall. We lost all 4 of our games on Friday but Saturday proved to be very different. We won our first 5 matches but lost the 6th match which stopped our run to the final round. The boys were very happy with their results considering we were missing 4 of our players. The team performed very well and are now far more confident of their ability. Thank you to all the parents who drove our athletes to Vauxhall.

A couple of reminders; our senior high students are raising funds to build two houses in Mexico. They would like to volunteer to do work in exchange for a donation to their cause. If you can help out, please contact the school. Our annual silent auction will be held on Saturday, November 4. Please plan now to be in attendance. Your help in this event is very important.

Please note the schedule for next week. There will be no school on Monday, October 9 (Thanksgiving) and Tuesday, October 10 (PD day) School will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 11, Picture day is Thursday, Oct. 12 and Friday will be a normal school day.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers for our school and your great volunteer attitude.

Kevin Bailey
