Happy Mother's Day

Hello Parents;

I want to take the time to recognize and thank all of the mothers who are reading this. You have one of the most important roles in our society and I appreciate the work you do in raising your family. It truly is a never ending job and no matter how old your children are, you will always be their mom and you carry the concerns and worries that go with the role. Thank you for all that you do.

We know that summer is almost here when we turn the boilers off for the school furnaces. While the boilers are on they continue to generate heat in the building and the last couple of weeks have been very warm in the school. Of course now that the boilers are off, the outside temperature is likely to go down!

Upcoming events include our high school district track and field meet on Thursday, May 18. This will take place in Picture Butte. Our athletes will leave the school after 2:00 that afternoon. The junior high track meet will take place in Vulcan on Wednesday, May 24. With a first or second place finish both our senior and junior high athletes will qualify to move on zone competition.

On Thursday, May 25 we have a special speaker coming to the school to talk with our grade 7 - 12 students. Our guest is Richard Fangard from Creation Ministries International. He will be speaking in the gym starting at 10:15. I would encourage as many parents as possible to attend to hear Mr. Fangard speak.

Two other events will occur on that Thursday, the hanging baskets that were ordered earlier in the spring will arrive that afternoon. These plants will be delivered to the High River Baptist Church and will be ready to be picked up by 3:00 PM. Please make arrangements to have the plants out of the church building no later than 6:00 PM that day. This is also the day that students in senior high who qualify for zone competition will be off to Lethbridge to see if they can qualify for a trip to a provincial track meet.

Looking a little further down the road, the final band and choir presentation will take place on Thursday night June 1. We will be holding this event in the Baptist church with the start time being 7:00 PM. I look forward to seeing most of you there.

On Wednesday of last week our grade 7/8 class left for Camp Little Red. This is an annual event planned by Mr. Doerksen. They arrived safely back home late Friday afternoon having enjoyed an exciting and safe time at camp. Thank Mr. Doerksen and for the volunteers who went. We appreciate your time and effort.

The annual golf tournament is quickly approaching and will take place on Saturday, June 3 at the Nanton Golf Course. This is a fund raising event for the school. If you do not golf you can always come out for the supper afterwards. For more information please contact the school.

Chapel last Wednesday was a very special time as our 3 grade 12 boys spoke about their experience at Brant and how much Brant Christian has impacted them. It was a very moving time as the boys spoke openly and emotionally about their time at Brant. We are very proud of our graduating class, all 7 of them. Thank you to the parents of our grads and for your commitment to our school and your trust in us.

The students also gathered around Marlyn Brunning to pray for her and her family. Marlyn's mother is very ill and is not expected to live much longer and this has placed an emotional burden on her. Marlyn left shortly after chapel and we are waiting for an update on the situation. Please keep Marlyn and her family in your prayers.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
