On Thursday of last week our student's council put together an exciting display of talent. Thirteen different groups performed for their fellow students and parents. The top 3 placements were R.B., Janaya G and Colton F. Thank you to all students who participated, to our judges and to pastors Tim and Jason for entertaining us with their musical abilities. On Wednesday morning Taber Christian School brought their band to Brant for a 40 minute concert. We were very entertained by their skills and their enthusiasm for music. This concert has encouraged our band members to continue with their efforts. I look forward to the day when Brant's band will be able to travel around western Canada and perform for other schools. And to finish off our busy week, on Tuesday the praise band from Miller College of the Bible spent most of the afternoon with our students leading them in singing and bringing a message of Christ's working in their lives to our older students.
With the start of a new month brings a shift in activities to our school. Last Friday our junior high badminton team played in a tournament in Vulcan. Our students played very well bringing home several medals. The track and field season is now underway with practices going Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students do not need to come out to all three practices, just on the days that fit into their schedules. The first track meets will take place in mid May and wrap up by the end of this month.
The final band concert and choir performance will take place on June 1 at the High River Baptist Church starting at 7:00 PM. Today, April 30, was the first visit of the year to one of our local churches. Brant Christian had an information booth set up at the Evangelical Free Church in Okotoks. We will be at the Okotoks Alliance Church on May 7, the Foothills Community Church on May 21 and then we move into High River for the end of May and into June and set up at the Baptist Church, Full Gospel, Alliance and Christian Reformed church. The purpose of our visit is to promote our school and to continue building a connection will our local churches. There were a number of people who stopped by our booth and all were excited to hear about our move to the High River area. The desire for Christian education is very strong in the Foothills area and our eventual move will bring about a large increase in our numbers.
A reminder that tomorrow, Monday is a PD day for teachers which means no school for students. We do have school on Friday and we look forward to having all of our students in attendance on that day. Fridays at Brant are like any other school day. It is important that all students understand this, especially with the end of the school year being so close.
Please continue to pray for our school and for our society board as they oversee the present and future growth of our school.
