Year-End Update

Hello to all our wonderful Brant families!

This is it, the last weekly wrap up of the year. It is hard to believe we are through volleyball, the legislature trip, Christmas concert, curling, ski day, skating on our rink, missions trip, rugby, track, Spring concert, penny carnival, sports day, grad, golf tournament, Zoo day, Heritage Park day and now are only waiting on the final day this coming Tuesday! As I often reminded myself when my boys were young, the days were long, but the year was short. We have so much we can praise God for having done this year.

The staff were blessed by the work of the PEG this week and all the parents who participated in bringing in treats for us all week long. It was so encouraging to have the tasty things to choose from on our breaks and at lunch. Thank you to the volunteers who make our school so much better!

As we look toward the fall, changes lie ahead for Brant Christian. We are sad to see teachers like Mr. Mallach and Mr. Doerksen leave as they respond to God’s call on them to step out in faith and make change in their lives. We will miss what they brought to our school and thank them for their dedication and service to Brant. We continue to look to God with great anticipation of all that He will do for our school and are very excited to celebrate and announce the staff who will be in place to continue the tradition of teaching excellence. They are:

  • Mrs. Niemans in Kindergarten

  • Mrs. Larsen-Wall in 1/2

  • Ms. Wolfe in 3/4

  • Mrs. Campbell (as of July. She is still Ms. Nudd for now) in 5/6 & jr high PE

  • Ms. Cook fulltime in 7 & 8 - she will do the LA and Math for our junior high

  • Mrs. Goodfellow - Math 9, Math 10C and 20, Physics 30

  • Mr. Kroeker - Science from 5-12

  • Mr. Chisholm - Social 8-12 and Athletic Director

  • Mrs. Anderson - ELA 8 & 10-12

  • Mr. Korthuis - Band and Choir

  • Pastor Dave - Campus Chaplain, Bible and Worship Band

As well as all our our outstanding support staff:

  • Mrs. Massey - Administrative assistant

  • Mrs. Wasik - High school coordinator, EA

  • Mrs. Maclean - elementary librarian

  • Mrs. Steiner - EA

  • Mrs. Bartel - EA

  • Mrs. Nauta - elementary music specialist

As we look toward Tuesday, we are excited for one last chance to gather as a community for our summer sendoff. We are planning to meet at High River Baptist Church for 9am. After a greeting, we will split our students into groups for the tug of war and balloon toss games, then come back into the sanctuary for 10. We will have a short program, will hand out report cards and then enjoy some hotdogs with the goal of dismissing by 12. There is a chance it could run a little longer than that, but we will get the students off to summer break as quickly as we can. Please watch for Southland to notify you of when pick up and drop off times will be for students taking the bus that day. And if you are coming to the church, don’t miss the lost and found tables, which will be cleared and sent to Mission Thrift after our morning together.

Finally, I want to say a huge thank you to all the families who have supported our staff and myself this past year. We know the prayers that were made, the time invested, not to mention the sacrifices made by families to ensure their students have a quality, Christian education. Thank you for everything. We count it a real privilege and blessing to be part of this mission as we serve Christ through our work with your students. May your summer be blessed as you know His peace and His grace in your lives. Amen.
