Writer's Symposium Week

Hello Parents;

This upcoming week has been set aside to recognize the writing talents of our students. In period 7 of each day (2:15 - 3:00) we will be meeting in the gym where each day a different grade level will be showcasing their written work. Anyone who is able to join us at that time is welcome to attend. There will be a final wrap-up and celebration on Friday from 2:15 - 3:30. This too is open to anyone who can attend. We are very fortunate at Brant to have students with strong reading and writing skills. This is a major focus of the Palliser School Division and they have been very supportive over the years to provide us with the tools necessary to strengthen the literacy skills of our students. The student's abilities are also a testament to your efforts as parents in encouraging them to read and in understanding the importance being fluent in both their reading and writing skills. We hope that many of you will be able to join us in this celebration.

Our senior high school students played in their first badminton tournament on Friday. I was very impressed with their performance and equally pleased to announce that they all will be advancing on to the Zone tournament being held in Lethbridge this coming Friday, April 29. Any of our athletes who can place first or second at this level will be invited to a provincial tournament to be held in Edmonton May 6 and 7.

I am amazed at how talented the students at Brant Christian are. I was able to witness this again when our band students performed at a band festival last Wednesday. The talent of Mrs. Fisk in getting our students to play as well as they did is truly a gift. Our students performed like pros. They did an exceptional job and I look forward to listening to them play for many years to come. Thank you to Mrs. Fisk for her dedication and her talent. If you are not aware, she and her husband, Pastor Scott, are expecting their 3rd child this summer so Mrs. Fisk will be taking some time away. We will let you know who the band instructor for next year will be once the position has been filled.

Our junior high badminton team play in their first tournament this coming Wednesday. Play gets underway at 1:30 in Vulcan. In order to advance to the next tournament, our athletes will have to place first or second. I know that all of our players will be excellent ambassadors for our school.

Camp Little Red is coming up for our junior high students. They will be leaving after school on May 4 and returning early Friday evening on May 6. Thank you to Mr. Doerksen and parent volunteers who help out with this. I know that this trip is a highlight for the students.

This Thursday, 5 of our students in grades 4 -6 will be attending a leadership conference in Vulcan. They will travelling with Miss Wolfe and I look forward to hearing their report about possible projects we can implement at Brant Christian for next year.

Hopefully by now you have received information on the annual Brant Christian School Invitational Golf Tournament. It will take place on Saturday, June 4 and the Nanton Golf Club. Please go to our website for additional information.

Thank you,

Kevin
