video progress

Hello Parents;

For those of you who read this blog on a regular basis you are aware of a slogan for next year called "Brant 140" It is a simple statement of our goal to have at minimum, 140 students at Brant Christian at the start of the 2019/20 school year. Part of our promotion is producing a new video on our school. We are well underway to having this video completed by the end of the month. It will highlight our students and the wonderful community that exists at our school. We are grateful for the work of Tim Korthuis, parent and music pastor for Okotoks Alliance Church and his expertise as a video producer. Once the video has been completed we will post it to our school website. It will also be shown in many of the churches in our area in the month of March. We will keep you posted as to the release of our new video.

This Tuesday afternoon our students will be watching a presentation put on by Alberta Safe Rider program. It will teach our students how to ride and enjoy safely off road vehicles such as quads, snowmobiles and dirt bikes. The presentation for our K - 4 students will begin at 1:00 and for our grade 5 -12 students their program will start at 2:15. All parents are welcome to attend either of the presentations.

Our next chapel is this Wednesday. Mrs. Brunning will be bringing a message to our older students starting at 9:15. Our praise and worship will begin at 10:15. As always, all are welcome to attend any of our presentations at school. Please contact the school if you have questions.

The junior high basketball team, which is a co-ed team, played a game last week at home and came away with another victory. It is encouraging to see the progress they are making in their understanding of this sport. Congratulations to the players and their coach. The team will wrap up their season with a tournament in Arrowwood on March 6. The next sport for both our junior and high school students will be badminton.

The past week has been a challenge for our students as we have kept them inside due to the cold weather conditions. They have been great at keeping busy during their recess times but it is not the same as being able to go outside and run around, enjoy the playground or go skating. Hopefully the weather will moderate enough this week so that we can allow the students more outdoor time. A reminder to all parents that it is vital that your children are coming to school fully equipped for the weather; mitts or gloves, warm hat and winter jackets.

By now all Brant families should have received an envelope from the Alberta government asking them to fill out a survey on Brant Christian. It is important to us that you complete this form and return it. If you have not completed the questionnaire could you please do so this week. If you have misplaced the questionnaire, contact the school and we will get you a code that is needed to complete the form.

Next week, Feb. 18 - 22 the school will be closed. Monday is a family holiday, Tuesday and Wednesday are banked days off and Thursday and Friday our teachers are at a convention in Calgary. As well this Friday, Feb.15 is a Friday off at Brant.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
