Skating Party fun

Hello Parents;

This past week began in our Monday morning assembly telling the story of Esther and Mordecai. So far the students know who King Xerxes was and how his wife Vashti was removed from the throne and that Xerxes has met Esther for the first time. We meet each Monday morning, grades 1 - 12 to sing O Canada, open in prayer and study an unsung hero of the Bible. For the month of March we will be looking at the role Esther played in saving her people while in captivity.

The highlight of the week was our skating party that was held on Thursday evening. We had a fantastic turn-out. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and for bringing some goodies with you. Due to our warm weather, our ice was not at its best but that did not take away from the fun that our students had. Because of our early spring weather our rink is now closed for the season but we look forward to opening it up next November with some added improvements. We will definitely be planning more events around the use of the rink.

A reminder that this coming Wednesday and Thursday evenings will be our second term parent/teacher interviews. Please contact Cathy if you have not made an appointment to visit your children's teachers. On Thursday, students in grades 5 - 12 will be off to Rosebud Theatre to watch the play, "Treasure Island." We will also be having lunch there. We depart from Brant at 8:30 and should be back by 3:30.

There are 8 high school students along with Mr. Doerksen and Mrs. Brunning heading to Ottawa in May. As a fund raising activity they will be out pre-selling hanging baskets. These plants come from the Oyen Greenhouse and are fantastic way to bring colour to your home. The plants sell for $35. Please help support these students as they prepare for their trip to our nation's capital.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
