Settled In

Hello Parents;

Everyone seems to be into the school routine at this point. Teachers are now well into their curriculum guidelines and the students have settled into a year of learning and fun. The student elections were held on Wednesday of last week. Congratulations to all students who ran for one of the positions. Our student council president is Abigail Emsheimer. Josh Vandermey, Ronique Leggot and Judah Emsheimer round out the rest of the high school reps. Findley VanHell will represent the grade 7/8 class, Charlie Third for the grade 5/6 and Violette Doerksen for 3/4. We wish them all the best as they begin to make plans for this year and what they can do to give the students a voice in what happens at school and to plan activities that add excitement to being at Brant.

This was another busy weekend for our athletes only it was our junior high teams that were in action. Our girls travelled to Lethbridge to compete in a tournament at Immanuel Christian School while our boys ventured to Bow Island to take part in a tournament being held at Senator Gershaw. I do not have the results of their efforts at this point. We appreciate the work of our coaches, and the parents who were willing to drive the students to their tournaments. Without the help of our parents and other volunteers, it would not be possible to run the athletics program that we do.

Tomorrow (Monday) is a professional development day for our staff and as a result, no school for the students. On Tuesday our elementary and junior high students are travelling to Southern Alberta Bible Camp to compete in a cross country running meet. I am confident that our students will perform very well. They have been out practicing most noon recesses in preparation for the event.

In January, 33 of our high school students and 3 chaperones will be heading to Tijuana Mexico to build houses for needy families in that area. The students are in need of your help. They plan to build 2 houses while they are there. Each home will cost $10,000 to construct. They are looking for people to donate to the cost of these houses. They are willing to come to your place to do work, in return for a donation or they would be happy with a straight donation. Any donation made goes directly to the home and not the travel expenses of the students. To make a donation please contact Cathy at school.

We are blessed to see our enrollment so high this year and are grateful for God's blessing. We believe that there are many more students in our area who would love to receive a top notch Christian education and yet, still do not know about Brant Christian. We ask all parents to continue to talk about Brant to your friends throughout the year. There are so many parents who want their children to attend a school that is safe and welcoming and speaks openly of God's love. As parents, you are our best advertisement.

Thank you,

Kevin
