September 2, 2014. A New Start

Hello Students and Parents;

As we head into the last long weekend of summer I want to take time to introduce myself and remind you of a few upcoming events at school. As you know, the first day of school will be Tuesday, September 2. As a staff we are looking forward to seeing our returning students and several new students who will be joining BCS this year. School starts at 8:30 AM with students going to their homeroom classes. At 9:00 our pancake breakfast will get underway. We will have a brief opening ceremony in the gymnasium followed by the breakfast. We encourage all parents, grandparents to join us for the morning. Weather permitting, the food will be served outside along the west side of the building.

For all of our students who like to run, we will be looking for athletes to represent Brant Christian in cross-country running. We will be competing against other schools in the Palliser district. The first meet is scheduled for Sept. 22 and is open to all students in grades 3 - 9. I encourage all students to come out and show us how well you can run.

Now a little about me. I am excited to be at Brant Christian School. What a unique educational opportunity  that exists in this country setting. I grew up in a small town school and love the environment and fellowship that occurs in such a setting. I was a vice principal at Glenmore Christian Academy for the past 15 years. Prior to that I was with the Foothills School Division and worked with Tim Horton's for 4 years. I am married with two university aged sons, both of whom will be graduating this year. My wife works out of the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary with the Prostate Cancer Centre.

I am very excited about this school year and look forward to getting to know both students and parents. I will likely do most of my communicating to you through this blog site. I encourage you to drop by for a visit whenever you can or contact me via phone or e-mail.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
