Preparing for Advent

Hello Families of Brant,

It is Advent season and we are all excited to celebrate the coming of our Lord over 2000 years ago. The celebrations are many at Brant Christian School this time of year, so be sure to add them to your calendar.

Samaritan’s Purse
We have a crew of 26 junior/senior high students volunteering at Samaritan’s Purse this evening, Thursday, November 30.  They will be sorting and packing shoe boxes that are intended to encourage and bless children around the world. Thanks to everyone who has contributed in some way to this wonderful way of demonstrating Christ’s love.

Santa Claus Parade
Brant Christian School will be entering two floats in this year’s Santa Claus Parade in High River on Friday, December 1.  Students who have signed up to ride in the float or to walk alongside the float in the parade are asked to refer to the information instructions sent home. This email will explain when and where to meet the Brant float.

Christmas Play
This year’s Christmas play called “Arrest These Merry Gentlemen” will take place on Dec. 7th at 7:00pm in the Brant gym.  Students involved in the play should be arriving at the school at 6:30pm that evening to get ready.  The dress rehearsal will be on Dec. 6 at 1:00pm at (also in the Brant gym).  Parents/family members can come and watch if they aren't able to make it for the evening performance. This play will include students performing from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Summary of “Arrest These Merry Gentlemen”: Sergeant Joe Sabbath is charged with keeping the peace in the sleepy little town of Bethlehem, and she likes things QUIET!  When word reaches her that a band of rowdy shepherds is inbound from the fields outside of town, boisterously celebrating with wild tales of angels and such, she is determined to get to the bottom of this case!  Of course, what she discovers is no simple "disturbing the peace" beef.  It seems she's stumbled upon the caper that changed the world!

Christmas Concert
There will also be a Band/Choir/Strings Concert on December 14th at 7:00 pm at the Okotoks Alliance Church for grade 5-12 students who participate in any of these musical groups.

Secret Santa
Each year we have a Secret Santa event where students are "Secret Santa's" sharing a wrapped gift of between $5 and $10 with a school mate. Your child(ren) will have the name of the student they are buying a gift for but please touch base with the school office or their homeroom teacher if needed. Grade 7 -12 gifts will go to the senior high portable off of the office and elementary students will give their gifts to their teachers.  Please note that Secret Santa Gifts need to be at the school by Thursday, Dec. 14th.

Hot Lunch
Just a reminder that hot lunches take place every Thursday.  Hot lunches rotate between hot dogs, taco in a bag, pizza, hamburgers, pulled pork and Subway sandwiches.  Orders for December are open with the deadline to accept being Monday, Dec. 4 www.schoolcashonline.com.

Volunteer Opportunities
Although we’ve had so many parents step up to help out already, there is still room for parents to volunteer.  Use the link below to sign up for volunteer opportunities: https://www.brantchristianschool.ca/for-bcs-families/volunteer-opportunities  Thanks so much for all the volunteers who contribute in so many ways.

Finally, feel free to reach out to me should you have any ideas or concerns, or just want to chat.

May God bless you as you seek to do His will,
Mr. Shain Chisholm, Principal
