Paying Tribute
Hello Parents;
With November 11 almost here I want to encourage you to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony this Wednesday. Both High River and Okotoks put on excellent services. If you cannot attend a service in person at least watch the ceremony from Ottawa on television. Understanding and remembering the sacrifice of so many will help us stay focused on what we often take for granted, our freedom. We were blessed to have Will Ritz's grandfather join us for our service last Wednesday and he spoke to us about what life was like in Russia during WW2 as a Mennonite being forced to leave his home and marched to a new location.
Congratulations to Mr. Doerksen and his junior high girls volleyball team for their participation in the south zone volleyball tournament this weekend. This is the first time that we have sent a team to this competition and our girls were excellent representatives of our school. We look forward to future years as we continue to build up our athletics program. This coming week our senior high boys volleyball team will in Lethbridge competing in their zone playoffs. Results will be announced next week.
With our weather becoming colder, it is time to start getting the school skating rink ready for another season of fun. The liner will go in this week and we will start adding water by Wednesday. We will let you know when it is ready for skating and will plan for our first party in early December. Once the rink is ready any of our school families are welcome to use it on weekends. Please invite your friends to join you.
Our school auction takes place this coming Saturday, Nov. 14. Please make sure that you plan to attend. It is an ideal time to catch up on conversations with old friends and to help support our school. The doors open at 4:30. The annual general meeting takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 18 in the sanctuary of the High River Full Gospel Church. The meeting gets underway at 7:00 PM and babysitting is available. The high school students going to Mexico will be holding a garage sale to help with their costs. The event will take place at the Full Gospel Church in High River on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 8:00 - 1:00. Please plan to attend. If you have any items at home that you would like to donate please contact Cathy at school.
