Grad, track and talent show

Hello Parents;

Another busy week at Brant Christian. Although we had a short week, we crammed a great deal of activity into the three days. On Thursday our junior high track team headed to Vulcan to compete in the district track meet. When the day ended we had 10 students qualify to move on to the zone competition which will be held in Lethbridge this Wednesday, June 1. Congratulations to all of our track athletes. I look forward to next year as we continue to build on this program.

On Friday our kindergarten class spent the day at the zoo and according to Mrs. Niemans, they had a wonderful time. They did get a little wet near the end of the day but came away having enjoyed a great experience. Thank you to all the parents who were able to join the class on their field trip.

The rest of the school celebrated the fine art skills of our students with a talent show. The contest was put on by our Student's Council. Students had to first audition to make the talent show. Ten performances were chosen and they each did a fantastic job. The previous blog to this one outlines the winners. I congratulate all students who participated and we look forward to an even larger show next year. Our judges were made up of Pastors from local churches and I appreciate them taking the time to come out to Brant

Saturday evening was the celebration of our grade 12 students as we honoured them on their graduation day. Both grads started kindergarten together at Brant and stayed with us for their entire school life. Thank you to the parents for your faithfulness and commitment.

A reminder to all parents of our grade 4 class, Tuesday evening is the band instrument rental night. This will be your opportunity to make arrangements to secure an instrument for your son/daughter. Band is a compulsory course for students in grade 5/6. The meeting will be held at the Full Gospel Church Church in High River, in the Youth Room starting at 7:00 PM. This will be your opportunity to meet our new band instructor for next year, Mr. Brian Rodger.

Thank you,

Kevin

Grad 2016

Thank you to this parent for providing such a wonderful description of the special grad event that took place on Saturday, May 28.  "The venue of Sheppard Family Park was perfect - a little bit of a country theme to go with our little prairie school!  Photos were taken beforehand and then the ceremony began at 4:00 with presentations of the diplomas (by Mr. D), a plaque for each grad from the Brant Christian School Society board in recognition of Jarod & Kyle's leadership and commitment to Brant (Board Chairman Gerald Dijkstra gave a quick encouragement and presented these awards), and a nominal gift from the ATA and a letter from our MLA, Wildrose candidate Mr. David Schneider (presented by Mr. Booker) and a gift from the BCSS board presented by Mrs. Brunning. Mr. Robert Strauss (Board of Trustees Vice Chair of Palliser Regional schools) gave greetings and congratulations from Palliser and the Board of Trustees of Palliser schools.  The guest speaker for the evening was Pastor Michael Lorusso who spoke on 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12, encouraging the boys to resolve to always do good, being enabled to do so by God's grace in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Guests enjoyed a slideshow, created by Sierra N. (a grade 11 student) with the song Overwhelmed by Big Daddy Weave.....lots of tears and emotion as we reflected on the lives of the grads growing up! Kyle and Jarod also presented recognition to all of our teachers and special guests for their influence and encouragement throughout the past 13 years. We also enjoyed a delicious supper together!  It was such a nice evening, very low key, no big formality but like a big family celebrating these two boys."
