BCS Christmas Concert - coming up on Dec 7!

Hello to all our Brant families! I want to wish you a joyous start to our advent season! This week was the candle of Hope, which reminds us of the hope that sustained Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem. It is the hope we also share as we await the return of our Saviour, even as we prepare to celebrate His birth so many centuries ago. Come Lord Jesus come!

This week was busy with many different events, especially in our fine arts groups as they made final preparations for our Christmas concert next Wednesday. It was definitely a highlight in my first year and I am excited to watch this again. I hope you are able to come join us at High River Baptist for 7pm. We will also have a display of Christmas ornaments for sale in support of our missions trip in the lobby. Just a reminder to families as well, that we are guests of the church and as such cannot have students left unattended in the building during the performance. We would ask you to keep your children with you once they have finished their part in the presentations.

Additionally this weekend we have our junior and senior high students headed out for the Edmonton trip. This is an excellent opportunity for them to see the Legislature, and gain an appreciation for how legislation is passed in our province. It is also a great time of community for our students as they relax and have fun together. And for our grade 5/6 students, they will have new half lockers in place for their coats and books by Monday!

With the current cold weather we are seeing, this is allowing us to get our rink up and ready. We hope to have it flooded for students to use prior to Christmas. We will let you know when to have students bring skates to school to take advantage of this excellent feature of BCS. It is also a wonderful outreach to our community, who can use the rink in the evenings and on the weekend. The rink functions as part of our PE program, helping support our students' well-being goals. It is our desire to have students be outside and active as much as possible, even when the weather turns cold. Thank you for ensuring your child makes it to school with the proper cold weather clothing - hat, mitts, warm jacket and snow pants if needed.

I also wanted to remind families of the upcoming board meeting on December 13th at the High River Alliance Church at 7pm. There will be a mission trip meeting for students and parents committed to the trip at 6pm.

May the peace of Christ fill your home as we joyfully await His coming.
