Sports Day/Golf Tournament

Hello Parents;

Before getting to this week's events I want to recap some of the excitement from last week. Our year ending grad chapel took place on Wednesday. This is the chapel where we honour our graduates and the younger grades get to roast their oldest classmates. It was a fun chapel and each class did a great job at acknowledging our graduating students. Although the mood was light-hearted, in the end, it is always hard to say goodbye to another group of graduates. Our grade 12 students play an important role in helping to establish the climate in our school and they do an excellent job of leading by example.

Friday evening was our formal grad ceremony held at the High River Baptist Church. This included a banquet followed by a program leading up to the presenting of the school diplomas. Thank you to the parents and students who helped decorate the church for the occasion. It was good to see such a good turn-out of relatives, present and former Brant Christian students.

Our students in Kindergarten through grade 4 spent Friday at the Calgary Zoo and what I have heard, it was a very successful day. Thank you to the High River Baptist Church for helping us with the transportation of our students to and from the zoo.

There are three big events planned for this week. On Wednesday, students in grades 1 - 6 will be participating in an elementary track and field meet in Vulcan. All parents are welcome to join us for the day. The meet starts at 9:30 and should be over by 3:00. Our students will be travelling by school bus to Vulcan and back.

On Thursday our annual sports day will be taking place. This is a very wild and wacky day and again we encourage all parents and grandparents to come out and join us for a day of fun and excitement. If you have never been out for a Brant Christian Sports Day, then you need to set the day aside and come and see what all the fun is about.

Our annual golf tournament takes place this Saturday at the Nanton Golf and Country Club. If you have not registered to come out and play I believe there is still time to sign up. Please contact the school for more information.

Mrs. Dyck has decided not to return to Brant next year which means we have an opening for a Social/ LA teacher for our students in grades 7 - 10. This is a .8 position but it is continuous and with the possibility of full time if our enrollment climbs higher this year. If you know of any teacher certified to teach in Alberta in the above subject area with a sound, Biblically based worldview, please encourage them to apply by contacting the Palliser Regional School Board website.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
