A Night at the Big Top - a HUGE Success!

A warm winter greeting to all our Brant families!

It was truly surprising for me to have the weather continue to be so cold and stormy this week, not only cancelling buses, but leading to an indoor recess as well. Fortunately the students handled it all like champions, and have adapted to the new conditions. We were also able to spend some time in remembrance this week of our veterans, and the many families who have lost loved ones to the conflicts Canada has participated in. I want to thank Pastor Dave for leading us through this remembrance ceremony in chapel this week.

Additionally, our students participated in the poster contests for the High River Legion, and we had 4 winners from our school. For Primary Color Poster we had three winners - Everly Turner (1st), Adriele Gella (2nd) and Chrissa Jackson (3rd), and in the Junior Black and White Poster Phoebe LeBlanc took first place. These posters will now go to compete at the district and possibly provincial level. Congratulations students!

This week our senior girls and boys volleyball teams have qualified for Zones. We are incredibly proud of our teams for this achievement!

A few reminders:

  • Please book your appointment for parent teacher interviews at brantchristianschool.schoolappointments.com. You will need our school access code to book, which is 5492. Interviews will happen on November 23 and 24.

  • The 7-12s who signed up to go to Theatre Calgary will go on Wednesday November 16th to watch The Importance of Being Earnest.

  • We are in search of a couch to add to our staff room. We need one that does not have absorbent surfaces (no cloth) and is large enough for three people to sit on. If you have a gently used couch that needs a new home, please consider BCS!

  • Next Friday, November 18, we are raising money for our sponsor child by allowing students to wear a hat while in school for the cost of a toonie. We are calling it Hats for Jésus and hope to use this to provide him some extra gifts this Christmas.

  • We do not have school on Monday November 14th, which is a day in lieu of Remembrance Day and will instead have school Tuesday through Friday next week.

I wanted to offer a final comment on the Silent Auction this past weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed watching so many of our families, students, alumni and the extended community get together at the auction. I had many conversations with people whose children had already graduated from Brant, but came out because they love our school. It was a very moving evening, and I want to thank everyone who made it a reality.

Today, as we remember those who served, we ask that God would bless our soldiers and their families, and that He would bring peace to our world. May His grace be on you and your family this weekend.

Quinn Barreth, Principal
