Mark your Calendars for the Music Concert!

In-school music concert held on May 26

Hello to all of our wonderful families!

We had a great week at BCS with lots happening. We started with students competing in track, ended with a talent show and so many other things in between.

A special treat this week was having our band, strings group and choir present to the students. It was a wonderful demonstration of what students have been working on this year, now that they have had a full year of in-person practice. If you wish to see this for yourself, they, along with the elementary music classes, will be in concert at 7pm on Tuesday, June 14th at High River Baptist Church. For elementary parents, please note that I made an error in Mrs. Nauta's email address. The correct email is rachel.nauta@pallisersd.ab.ca

Reminders:

  • Hot lunch orders for June are due Sunday May 29th

  • The payment for the graduation dinner is due to the office by Wednesday June 1.

  • Next week is a 5 day week. We are running sports day on Friday, and the students will have a great time competing in events. If you still want to volunteer please sign up here There are 3 spaces left.

  • This Monday night, all families who would like to learn more about our missions experiences for Grades 9-12  next year are invited to join me at High River Baptist Church at 7pm.

  • Don’t forget to sign up for the golf tournament on June 11th. Contact Mr. Doerksen if you want to be involved.

  • Our end of year BBQ is happening on Tuesday June 28th at High River Baptist. This is a great chance for us to celebrate the year, as we fellowship and the students receive their report cards. Please sign up here to register, so we know how much food to have on hand.

Finally, I want to share this announcement from our Business 10 class:
Business 10 Ukraine Fundraiser

We're reminding everybody of the “Snack and Drink Market” Ukraine fundraiser organized by the Business 10 students that takes place this Tuesday (May 31) and the following Tuesday (June 7).  Students will be selling homemade treats (e.g. cookies, baking, …etc.) and beverages (e.g. lemonade, slushies, milkshakes, ice cream …etc.).  Funds raised will be used to provide a new start to Tamara, a Ukrainian refugee who arrived in our area just this week.

Escaping from Ukraine to a refugee camp in Moldova, Tamara arrived this past week in Canada and is now staying with Christian brothers and sisters at the YWAM in Turner Valley.  As Tamara has almost nothing materially to her name, Brant Christian students are excited by the opportunity to help her with her many pressing practical needs (e.g. clothing, documentation, obtaining a learner's/driver's license, ...etc.)

Suggested Donation: $5 - 10 per student for each day of the market.  Feel to be as generous as you are able.

Product Pricing: Prices for snacks and drinks will range from $1 to $5.00.  As in past fundraisers, your participation is encouraged, but not required.  On the other hand, you are not limited to $10 as it is a fundraiser.  If you want and/or are able to contribute more, feel free to be as generous as you are able.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.  Matthew 25:35

Yesterday I was attending my oldest son’s graduation ceremonies, marking a huge milestone for our family. As we celebrated with him, I couldn’t help but think of the coming grad ceremonies for BCS. The event is a powerful recognition of the transition to adulthood for our students. I am excited to participate in my first grad experience with you, having now experienced it as a parent myself.

Since June is such a busy month with a lot of events coming up, it is my hope that you have a restful weekend, enjoying the blessing of our Heavenly Father.

Quinn Barreth, Principal
