Leap Year!

A Happy Leap Year Day to you! I hope you and your family had an enjoyable break and feel refreshed in the Lord as we enter into the season of Lent.

Open House
We had numerous families come out to our Open House to tour our school and inquire about how to join the Brant Christian family. A special thanks to the parent volunteers for providing the delicious baking and refreshments.

***Registration for 2024-25***
It is wonderful to see so many families interested in joining our school. With so much interest and some classes almost at capacity, we want to remind returning Brant families who are in good financial standing who want to hold their place for September 2024 that they will need to register by March 14, 2024. For families new to Brant, registration opens on March 15, 2024. As a result of the significant interest, it is important for returning families to know that if they register after March 15, 2024, they may not be guaranteed a spot.

Award Winning Christian Author and Speaker.
Marcia Lee Laycock will be in our library next Thursday, March 7th from 12:30-3:00 for an author visit and to read her storybook to the elementary grades. She will also stay for a question/answer session with older students who may have writing aspirations! Visit her website – www.marcialeelaycock.com for more about Marcia.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher conferences will be held on both Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Please go to https://brantchristianschool.schoolappointments.com to book appointments. If you booked in the fall you will use the same account. If you are new to school appointments, please create an account. Appointments are 10 minutes long. Please only book for core classes (LA, Math, Science and Social) and band with Mr. Korthuis due to time constraints. Add students by clicking on the “Add a student” button. Click on “Appointments” beside the student name and you can collect multiple teachers by holding the “ctrl” key. Please contact Mrs. Massey if you have any questions.

Ski Trip
Ski trip registrations have been sent in and we are looking forward to March 8th and getting out on the ski hill at Nakiska. Just a quick note that because Nakiska Ski Hill is in the Kananaskis, park passes will be required for the day. You can purchase a pass at the link below for a day ($15) or a year ($90). https://www.alberta.ca/kananaskis-conservation-pass

Yearbook 2023-24
If you would like for your child to look back at how “cool” they were at Brant in 2023-24, or have them take a stroll down memory lane 20 years from now, please don’t hesitate to buy a 2023-24 yearbook. Yearbooks must be purchased online at www.schoolcashonline.com before June in order for us to know the number needed to order from Lifetouch.

Badminton (Grades 7-12)
If your junior/senior high school son or daughter would like to play on the badminton team this year, they will need to fill out the permission form that has been sent home. Practices are scheduled at 7am at the High River Rec Centre on Fridays when school is not in session beginning on Friday, February 8th through to April 5th . There is a $5 drop-in fee for all participants. There will be a qualifying zone playdown tournament in mid-April with those who qualify going on to zones at the end of April. Please remind your children to submit the permission form as soon as possible.

Hot Lunch
Hot lunches take place every Thursday. Hot lunches rotate between hot dogs, taco in a bag, pizza, hamburgers and pulled pork sandwiches. March’s deadline will be Monday, March 4th , please have your orders in over the weekend.

Parent Volunteers
As we continue to grow in student population, the Parent Engagement Group is asking for parent volunteers for the following roles to help better support our teachers and students:
K-6 (Tuesday and Thursday mornings)
- Classroom assistance: To be able to help with language arts and/or math skills in small group settings
- Administrative tasks (e.g. laminating, preparing materials, …etc.)

Gr. 7 - 12
- Math tutoring at noon hours (twice a week)

K - 12 Playground and Lunch Hour Supervision
Our breaks take place at 10-10:15, 11:45-12:15 and 2:00-2:15. Helping with supervision is such a blessing for staff and students as it helps teachers provide students with extra help for concepts they may struggle with, helps students complete tests or assignments they may need to catch up on because of absences. If you’d like to help in any of these capacities, please sign up at: http://volunteersignup.org/8BWCL . We hope to get in contact with you as needs arise. Thanks so much!

Finally, feel free to reach out to me should you have any ideas or concerns, or just want to chat.

Mr Shain Chisholm, Principal
