Grade 12's Honoured

Hello Parents;

So much can happen in the space of one week. On Wednesday Mrs. Niemans, Mrs. Poulson and Mrs. Nauta took 12 of our junior high athletes to the south zone track meet that was held in Lethbridge. Many of our students achieved their personal best in their event and we are very proud of them for representing Brant Christian the way they did. Thank you to the three parents who gave up their day to drive our students to the track meet.

On Thursday we honoured our three grade 12 students with each class doing a presentation for them. Some of our classes read poems and told stories, some presented video clips while the high school students did the best they could to get their last digs in at our senior students. Thank you to Jess, Kyle and Jarod for their good nature and willingness to endure the roast. It was a  great deal of fun and an excellent way to say good bye to our grade 12 class.

Friday was hot and sunny and the perfect day for the annual sports day. This is the highlight of the community spirit that we so often refer to about Brant Christian. Students of all ages competing in a lot of fun activities and being respectful of each other. A big thankful to all the parents who came out to supervise in the 17 different activities. All this work is a result of a lot of planning by Mr. Doerksen. We are grateful for his enthusiasm and work ethic. He puts in so much extra time outside of the classroom.

The Brant Christian Annual Golf Tournament took place on Saturday at the Nanton Golf Course. We had 56 golfers come out to support the school. The first golf balls were hit at 12:30 and by the time we had supper and distributed prizes it was after 8:00 PM. Again, thank you to Mr. Doerksen and his committee; Ray Kooistra and Bob Hardcastle for the work they did in organizing the tournament and a special thank you to all companies who helped with their sponsorships. The proceeds from the tournament will go towards the Brant Christian athletics program in paying for entry fees and uniform costs.

Alberta Education's annual accountability pillar was released on Tuesday and Brant Christian came out with excellent results. The accountability pillar is based on a survey that parents, students and teachers complete in February. These groups are asked a series of questions related to school and their thoughts about how well the school is doing. See the summary of results HERE. If you have any questions about the results, please contact the school and I will be happy to answer your questions.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
