Bacon Fundraiser

Our March weather seems to be reflecting the saying, “ In like a lion and out like a lamb” as we’ve experienced lots of chilly weather to start March. Hopefully, we’ll see gentler, warmer weather over the next month.

Ski Trip
The warmer weather is arriving just in time for our annual school ski trip. If you are skiing with us, remember to arrive at Nakiska at 8:00 am. Miss Wolfe will greet you and show you where to meet. I will help direct you to where you need to go to get your lift tickets, rentals and meet for lessons. Looking forward to a great day on the slopes!

Park Pass
Just a quick note  that because Nakiska Ski Hill is in the Kananaskis, park passes will be required for the day. You can purchase a pass at the link below for a day ($15) or a year ($90). https://www.alberta.ca/kananaskis-conservation-pass

***Registration for 2024-25***
It is wonderful to see so many families interested in joining our school. With so much interest and some classes almost at capacity, we want to remind returning Brant families who are in good financial standing who want to hold their place for September 2024 that they will need to register by March 14, 2024. For families new to Brant, registration opens on March 15, 2024 . As a result of the significant interest, it is important for returning families to know that if they register after March 15, 2024, they may not be guaranteed a spot.

Award Winning Christian Author and Speaker
Christian author Marcia Lee Laycock visited our library earlier today (Thursday, March 7th). Our younger students were fascinated by the process of writing and illustrating storybooks while our Grade 7-8 students were very impressed by the complexity of writing and putting together a complete novel. If you would like to purchase any of Mrs. Laycock’s books or get more information, you can visit her website – www.marcialeelaycock.com.

Report Cards
Report Cards will be sent home with your children on Monday, March 18. Be sure to book an appointment with your children’s teacher in order to discuss your children’s progress.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher conferences will be held on both Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Please go to https://brantchristianschool.schoolappointments.com to book appointments. If you booked in the fall you will use the same account. If you are new to school appointments, please create an account. Appointments are 10 minutes long. Please only book for core classes (LA, Math, Science and Social) and band with Mr. Korthuis due to time constraints. Add students by clicking on the “Add a student” button. Click on “Appointments” beside the student name and you can collect multiple teachers by holding the “ctrl” key. Please contact Mrs. Massey if you have any questions.

Yearbook 2023-24
If you would like for your child to look back at how “cool” they were at Brant in 2023-24, or have them take a stroll down memory lane 20 years from now, please don’t hesitate to buy a 2023-24 yearbook. Yearbooks must be purchased online at www.schoolcashonline.com before June in order for us to know the number needed to order from Lifetouch.

Badminton (Grades 7-12) No badminton March 8 and 15
Just a reminder that there will be no badminton at the High River Rec Center tomorrow (March 8) because of the school ski trip two nor the next week (March 15).

Hot Lunch
Hot lunches take place every Thursday. Hot Lunch orders are closed for March. Watch for April’s hot lunch orders opening on March 22nd on school cash online!

Parent Volunteers
To bless our staff and make sure they are well fed for Parent Teacher Conferences, the Parent Engagement Group is providing potluck-style meals on both evenings (March 20 and 21).  Please sign up to help here: https://volunteersignup.org/MQJLF

As we continue to grow in student population, the Parent Engagement Group is asking for parent volunteers for the following roles to help better support our teachers and students:
K-6 (Tuesday and Thursday mornings)
- Classroom assistance: To be able to help with language arts and/or math skills in small group settings
- Administrative tasks (e.g. laminating, preparing materials, …etc.)

Gr. 7 - 12
- Math tutoring at noon hours (twice a week)

K - 12 Playground and Lunch Hour Supervision
Our breaks take place at 10-10:15, 11:45-12:15 and 2:00-2:15. Helping with supervision is such a blessing for staff and students as it helps teachers provide students with extra help for concepts they may struggle with, helps students complete tests or assignments they may need to catch up on because of absences. If you’d like to help in any of these capacities, please sign up at: http://volunteersignup.org/8BWCL. We hope to get in contact with you as needs arise. Thanks so much!

Finally, feel free to reach out to me should you have any ideas or concerns, or just want to chat.

Mr Shain Chisholm, Principal
