February's arrival

Hello Parents;

I always enjoy the start of a new month. It's like the beginning of a new chapter and the way our weather changes in Alberta each month does bring a whole new series of events. Although February is a short month, it will be a very busy one. This week alone we have our information meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Thursday is our family ski day at Nakiska. I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the hill. The weather forecast is looking very favourable and should be a fun day.

Our unsung hero for the month will be Abigail. I won't say much more about Abigail. Quiz your children Monday night to see what they learned about this Old Testament character and the role she played in the Bible. She will be introduced at Monday morning assembly.

We begin this month with a new Christian Education course for our students in grades 11 and 12. We will begin by looking at what is a Christian worldview and compare it to other worldviews and how we differ. We will be looking at 5 other worldviews; Islam, Secular Humanism, Marxism-Leninism, Cosmic Humanism and post-modernism. We want our students graduating from Brant to have a solid understanding of how to integrate their faith into all aspects of their lives but to understand how non-Christians view the world and why they think the way they do. Starting in September of next year, students in grades 9 and 10 will also be involved in Christian Education classes as well but with a different focus.

Our kindergarten open house is on March 4 from 1:00 - 3:30 PM. If you have children that are in this age group or if you have friends with kindergarten aged children please pass on the date and time to them.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
