Advent begins

Hello Parents;

Thank you to everyone who came out to the AGM on Tuesday of last week. Your support of the school is very much appreciated. The board met on Friday night and all Saturday revamping our school's vision and mission statements and looking at core values for Brant Christian. As we continue to make progress towards moving our school, it is vital that we reassess who we are as a school so as to better promote ourselves to people who are not familiar with Brant Christian.

Our society board has purchased 4 portable classrooms to be added to our present site in Brant to allow for the ongoing growth of our school. The land has been prepared for their arrival which should take place in the next couple of weeks. The new classrooms will be situated east of the school and will add much needed space to our very crowded school.

The Christmas concert that was held last Thursday, was a tremendous success. It was encouraging to see so many people fill the large sanctuary of the High River Baptist Church. Thank you to Rachel Nauta, Karen Dees, Marlyn Brunning and Tim Korthuis for their excellent leadership in their performance areas and to our students for an enjoyable evening.

This Friday is the High River Santa Claus Parade. We will have our "little school house" in the event. Please give a shout-out as we pass by. Our students are looking forward to participating in the annual celebration of Christmas.

A reminder that our school play, "A Christmas Carol" will be performed on Wednesday afternoon December 11 at 1:00 PM and Thursday, December 12 at 7:00 PM. There will be a freewill offering taken on the Thursday night with proceeds going to help cover the cost of the house-build while our students are on their mission trip in Mexico. Our students are looking for help in meeting their goal of raising $20,000. This is the estimated cost for building 2 houses in Mexico. If you are able to make a donation, your help would be greatly appreciated.

In our morning assembly tomorrow, we will be celebrating the lighting of the first candle on the Advent calendar. This gives us the opportunity to prepare our students for the coming celebration of Christmas and to focus their attention on the true meaning of Christmas.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
