Family Groups Up and Running

fun Family Group activity!

Hello Parents;

Although last week was short, it was still a busy week. Highlights for the week included picture day on Thursday. It was good to see so many students dressed a little more special that day. Photos will be back in a couple of weeks. I hope each of you are keeping these yearly photos to mark the changes in your child's life. It is always amazing to see how quickly the changes happen.

All students at Brant Christian are placed in a family group. We have 9 family groups at school with each group made up of a cross section of students. Each family is led by 3 or 4 of our high school students. When we have school on Fridays, morning devotions take place in the family groups with the senior students in charge of the devotion. I am impressed by the quality of work that our leaders do in sharing a devotion with the younger students in their family. We finished the day off with a family activity in the gym.

This coming week will be a shortened week as the staff attend a teacher's convention in Calgary. Brant Christian is a member of the Association of Christian School International (ACSI) and each year they host a teacher's conference that draws in teachers from Alberta and Saskatchewan. Our conference takes place on Thursday and Friday at First Alliance Church in Calgary. They are anticipating close to 900 teachers to be in attendance.

We will be adding newer lockers to the Elem./Jr. High hallway this coming week. Many of the existing lockers are likely original from when the school opened back in the 1950's and they are showing their age. If all goes well with the removal and installation of the new lockers, they will be available for student use on Monday, Oct. 23.

Our volleyball teams are still very busy. The junior boys and girls played on Wednesday of last week. Our senior high teams will be at Calgary Christian on Wednesday. On October 26, 27 our senior boys will be at a tournament in Lethbridge. Many of our high school students will be in Edmonton that weekend on a field trip to the Legislature, U of A and Science Museum and of course West Edmonton Mall.

Please plan to attend our annual auction being held on November 4 in High River. It is always a well planned event and a very fun evening and an excellent fund raiser for our school.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
