New Semester

Hello Parents;

Wednesday of this week will mark the halfway point of the school year. The final diploma exam will be written on Monday. There is no school on Tuesday and then we start up again on Wednesday. This Friday is a school day and like all Fridays, when we are at school it is a normal day and should not be treated any differently than any other day. The students need to be in their class or they will miss out on valuable subject information.

This Wednesday is a chapel day. It will take place in the morning starting at 9:20 with Mrs. Brunning talking with the elementary students. The joint worship time starts at 10:15 with the junior/senior high chapel underway by 11:00. Everyone is welcome to attend.

For our high school students going to the Bamfield Marine Biology station, there will be a final information evening held this Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Full Gospel Church in High River. It is very important that at least one parent from each family going on the trip be in attendance. The meeting will last no longer than 30 - 45 minutes.

Our preschool, Genesis, will be holding an open house this Friday. Our location in High River is at the Alliance church and will run from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon. The open house in Okotoks will take place from 3:00 - 5:00 on Friday afternoon at the Okotoks Alliance Church. If you have pre-school children or know of someone who does, please plan to attend and find our more information about the program that we offer and who the instructor is.

When we have a school day on a Friday we try to plan a family group activity. At the start of the year each student is placed on a team that is headed up by one of our high school students. We refer to these groups as families. This past Friday for our morning devotions we had the high school leaders in charge of morning devotions for their family group. It was rewarding to see our students step up and take this leadership role. We are blessed to have many strong leaders in our high school and they set a good example for our younger students.

Our students council has planned a formal day for this Friday. We are encouraging all students and staff to dress in something a little more fancy than they would normally wear to school.

Our skating rink is still up and running despite the recent warm weather. The rink is open for use by any of our school families at any time. With the weather turning colder this week, it should be in great shape by Thursday or Friday.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
