Hello Parents;

The number being used as the title for this blog is our estimation as to how many people were in attendance last Tuesday at Brant Christian School's opening day ceremony and pancake breakfast. It was exciting to see our gym full of students, parents and friends. We are grateful to have so many new families join us this year. We want to make our new students and parents feel right at home as quickly as possible.

God has been very gracious to us over the summer. He has brought us many new families and some outstanding new teachers. Being a rural school and trying to fill part time positions can be very difficult. God has answered our prayers with the return of Mrs. Anderson and the addition of Mrs. Dyck. These two teachers, along with our excellent staff, will provide your children with an excellent education that will be difficult to match in any other school. It is because of our teaching staff, the commitment and effort of our parents and the dedication of our society board that makes Brant Christian School such a unique place.

On the sports front, we are celebrating two new firsts this year. We have 3 high school boys who will be participating in a zone golf tournament on Sept. 13 in Medicine Hat. This year we will have a senior high girls volleyball team coached by Chrissie Nauta and Erin Niemans. Our boys volleyball team has already had their first practice, with 11 boys coming out, 4 of whom are home school students who are allowed to play for Brant. Our students in grades 3 - 8 will be participating in a cross country meet at Southern Alberta Bible Camp on Monday, Sept. 19. Parents are welcome to join us.

This coming Friday our entire school, K - 12 will be heading to the Corn Maze which is east of Calgary. We will depart from the school at 8:30 AM and return to school by 3:30. These activities are an excellent way for the students to get to know each other outside of the classroom. For those who have not been to the Corn Maze, it is much more than just of field of corn for students to walk through. There are numerous activities for the kids to take part in and challenge themselves and each other.

A reminder of a fantastic free concert going on at the High River Baptist Church this Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 PM. If you have not heard of Joal Kamps you can google him and listen to some of his music. There is no cost for the concert but we will take up a free will offering. I hope to see many of you there.

Thank you,

Kevin Bailey
