Weekly Highlights

Hello Parents;

To all parents who were able to come out to the parent/teacher meetings, thank you for taking the time. It is always good to meet with you and talk about your children. This is a relatively calm week ahead with regards to meetings or events happening at school. One of the fund raising events we do at Brant is the selling of hanging baskets. The proceeds from the sales goes into the student's account which they can use for the next major school trip. Students in grades 8 - 12 will be taking orders for these beautiful arrangements until April 13. The plants themselves will arrive on May 25. The hanging baskets are quite large and sell for $35. If you have not been approached by a student and would like to purchase a basket or two, please contact the school and we can make arrangements for you.

On Thursday of last week some of our board members and myself held a breakfast for pastors from churches in Okotoks. Our goal is to strengthen our association with churches in both Okotoks and High River. It is always interesting to hear the perspective of the pastors and their understanding of our school. We have a lot of work ahead of us to make sure that people know who we are and the value there is in having their children be a part of Brant Christian.

Registration packages are going home soon. Please complete the forms and return them to Cathy as soon as possible. If you have friends who are planning on sending their children next year, they need to get registration packages as well. Please have them contact the school.

The only meeting scheduled for this week is on Thursday, March 17. It is for parents of students in grades 7/8 and will take place at the Full Gospel Church in High River at 7 PM. During this time I will be explaining what it is like to be in high school at Brant and what we can offer the students in our small, rural setting.

Our assembly theme for the month of March has been intercessory prayer. Each Monday morning as we gather to sing O Canada and try to wake the students up, we talk about a different theme that ties in with our school goal of Christian service. We have been discussing the importance of being a prayer warrior and lifting up the needs of others before God and the power of intercessory prayer. Monday morning assembly is always open to parents.

Now that basketball and curling season is over our athletic focus turns to badminton. We will be having practices this Wednesday and Thursday from 4 until 5 PM. Badminton is open to students in grades 7 - 12.

One final note, thank you to the parents and Mrs. McLean for setting up the book fair and for all the students and parents who supported it by purchasing items. It was a very successful year.

Kevin Bailey
