Skating Rink as Community Builder

My warmest wishes to all our Brant families!

It was a great week, not least because the cold that was gripping us for so long eased up in time for students to be back at school, but more importantly, it was wonderful to have everyone back here together!

Once we had everyone back in the building, it was like we never left. The chatter in the halls makes the building come alive, and I know the whole staff was thrilled to be working with your children again. God was gracious and the weather was just cold enough for students to be outside for recess everyday and it was especially exciting to see everyone out on the ice this week. Whether students were skating, shovelling or helping flood, the rink is a real community builder and blessing. I have included one photo of the great work being done, and our students enjoying themselves on the rink below.

Here are a few reminders for the week ahead:

  • It is a 5 day week, the first in some time, so encourage your student to rest up and be ready for the extra day. We are going to have a snack shack opportunity coming up on Tuesday, January 18, with baked goods for sale by the student council to support their school initiatives.

  • If you want to have a better understanding of the work that our Society Board does, the annual general meeting is on Wednesday, January 19th, at the Christian Reformed Church in High River. Come hear about the things your board has been doing, along with their future plans at the AGM. All parents are members of the Brant Christian School Society and are requested to attend.

  • We received masks and rapid covid tests late on Thursday and are planning to organize them to send home on Monday. We received far fewer tests than expected, so please respond to Mrs. Massey’s email to let us know if your family would like a box. We are hopeful more are delivered in the coming weeks, but this is a helpful tool for your family in the meantime. We praise God for helping keep families healthy, while at the same time providing these tests for those who need them.

Thank you for helping keep our school healthy, through your diligence, hard work and prayers. This week we only had 5% of our students absent for all reasons (illness, isolation, and general absence) which is very encouraging.  Please continue to ask our Lord for wisdom and safety as we navigate Brant through these days. God bless us all.

Quinn Barreth, Principal
