Happy Thanksgiving

Hello to all our wonderful families!

It has been an eventful week again. And as we head into Thanksgiving we have a lot to be thankful for.

Following the declaration of a respiratory illness outbreak, AHS sent out a representative to inspect our school and cleaning procedures. Though we do not have the report back yet, it was a very helpful conversation which illuminated all those areas where we are doing a great job. Thank you for helping us keep our community healthy!

It has been a full week for our sports teams. Last weekend our JV boys played in their first tournament in Three Hills, and put up a spirited game in a near loss to Olds Koinonia to earn 6th place. Senior girls lost in three sets to Foothills composite on Monday, but won three sets against Oilfields on Wednesday. While the senior boys lost in the fifth set on Tuesday.

Junior boys and girls played at Okotoks Junior High on Thursday but did not get the results they were hoping for. I am so thankful for the many young athletes in our school who are using their physical gifts to glorify their Creator!

Next week we have our apple fundraising orders due on Thursday the 14th. I am excited to see how this new fundraiser can add to our school and how many apples are sold!

Also on Thursday we have a special guest coming to speak to the students. Angus Cockney is an artist from Canmore who is an Indigenous Christian. He has a wealth of experiences to share, including a trek to the North Pole, where he was the expedition’s photographer. We are looking forward to the insights he will bring and what our students will learn.

With the forecast suggesting we will have rain or even snow soon, I am reminding families to ensure their child has the proper footwear to change into in the building. Part of maintaining our facility is having students wear the proper indoor footwear. Thank you for your help in this area.

Finally, I want to wish all our families a very happy Thanksgiving. Though you may not be able to gather with all the family you would like to have around you, it is a wonderful time to be able to reflect on the many blessings we enjoy here. May you feel God’s presence this weekend and know His powerful grace and peace.
