From a stormy Monday last week to a beautiful spring day this week. The weather can influence our lives so much. It is a blessing to have the warmth back. Hopefully our snow at school will disappear quickly. Parents please continue to send boots for your younger children. We are still a couple of weeks away from having a dry playground.
It was a quiet week with very little on our school calendar. On Wednesday we had a guest speaker from Compassion Canada speak at our chapel service. The need of basic necessities for so many people in our world is astounding. Poverty is rampant in so many countries and yet, where we live, we see so little of it. Our speaker was able to share a little of what can and needs to be done to help the poor, which as Christian we are called to do. The focus on this month's Monday morning assemblies is on being blessed and how we can be a blessing to others. A timely theme given our speakers talk on world poverty.
On Wednesday, 21 of our junior high students traveled to Fort McLeod to participate in a district badminton tournament. Athletes had to place first in their division in order to qualify for the zone tournament. Although our athletes played well, no one qualified to move on. Our high students played in their district tournament on Thursday and we had 7 of our athletes qualify for their zone tournament to be played on Friday, April 27 in Lethbridge.
Starting next week I will be visiting local churches and setting up an information table on our school. I will be at the Evangelical Free Church in Okotoks next Sunday. The purpose of these visits is to increase the awareness level of who Brant Christian is. There are still many people in the Foothills area who are not aware that there is a Christian school alternative and that as a parent, they do have a choice as to how their children can be educated.
A reminder that our band and choir spring concert will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at the High River Baptist Church. The concert gets underway at 7:00 PM.
